Mantaro valley

The Huari (200 a 1000 d.C.), culture pre Inca estends its power in mostly all the central andes tuening the Mantaro valley in a huge agricultural area. After their fall Huancas came to control the heights and valleys. Defeated by the incas this land of warriors was always againts the empire, so when spanish came they fought against the incas without know the future that waits for then with spanish governement.
The Mantaro valley is filled of small villages and andean communities both side of the river. Its considered as the stock market of Lima producing potato, corn, and many vegetables as milk and cheese.
Also is considered as the main place of folklore having lots of dances and music: Tunantada, Viril, Huaylarsh, Chonguinada, Huaconada, Shapis, Santiago, Chinchilpos, Gamonales, Avelinos, etc. and is a very important artisan industry known for their decorated pumpkins, textiles, paintings, furniture, etc.

D1 LIMA/TARMA MTB 30 Km

Departure from Lima. Downhill to Tarma. Hotel.
D2 TARMA/MANTARO MTB 60 Km
09h00
Departure to Tarma Tambo. Then to Jauja riding on the Inca Trail, arriving to Paca Lagoon. Hotel.
D3 MANTARO MTB 50 Km
MTB to Sincos village qith great views of the Mantaro valley and their summits. Arrival to Concepción. Transfer to Jauja. Hotel.
D4 MANTARO/LIMA MTB 25Km

Final tour by Molinos campaign. Return to Jauja. Departure to Lima at 15h00. Arrival to Lima at 22h00 aprox..

IMPORTANT NOTE: In case of unexpected rains or weather events itineraries or daily program may have changes or delays.

Extra day JAUJA/SAN RAMON ***MTB

MTB departing from Jauja, transfer to Ricran Pass to start the ride crossing the Andes and start the downhill by paved road to the Jungle. Next day, short tour in the jungle and return to Lima.
MTB equipment:
Helmet and gloves.
MTB Backpack (camelback)
Winter clothes: windvest, long sleeve jerseys and leg and arm warmers, polartech, winter gloves.
Summer clothes and raincoat.

Personal equipment:
1 big travelers bag (in the assistance vehicle)
1 backpack for personal stuff for the day activities.
Sandals, gloves, trekking shoes, t-shirts, sunglasses, cap, jeans, short, polartech and jacket.
Hand or head lamp, sunblock.

Medicins: every passenger must bring their own regular medicins and tell us if he suffer some kind of allergy. Must bring a small kit of pills for headache, stomach and fever, etc.

Keep some money for tips, personal spends and beverages.
Tour includes:
* Transfers from/to station.
* Lodging, breakfasts, box lunch y meals on itinerary.
* Vehicle assistance.
* Guide and assistant(s)
* Bike rent (w/agree of returning parts in case of damage).

Tour NOT includes:
* Bagages, accidents and medical insurances.
* Beverages, personal spends, meals, tours and visits not specified on itinerary.
GENERAL INFO
Lodging
You will be lodged on double or triple rooms, with personal bath and warm water. Single rooms are availables if you ask with enough time or if the locations has for availability.
Weather: Cold and windy on heights (7~12 C) warm in the valley (15~18 C) and colder at night (3 C).
Health prevents:
Avoid drinking water from sources, drink water from sealed bottles.
How to get there
Private ground transfer from/to Lima 6hrs travel time.
